There are many potential applications for the mini split ac. They can be used institutional, commercial, or residential buildings. They are most commonly found in multifamily housing units. Another common application is to use the mini split ac as a retrofit add-on to a house that has a ductless heating system. Non-ducted heating systems can include space heaters using kerosene, propane, or wood; a hydronic heating system that uses hot water to heat; and radiant panels. The mini split ac can also be used in place where installing, or extending, ductwork would not be feasible, such as adding an additional room onto a house or building or in small apartments.
The mini split ac is similar to central heating and air systems. They are made up of two components – an air-handling unit for indoors and a compressor/condenser that is located outdoors. The two components are linked together by a conduit; a tube leading from one to the other that contains a power cable, suction tubing, refrigerant tubing, and a condensate drain. The mini split ac is small in size and easier to install than other types of air conditioning systems. It is also a way to save money and energy by allowing you to cool one room at a time. Some models are equipped with as many as four air-handling units that connect to one outdoor compressor/condenser. Each indoor unit is installed in a separate room and has it’s own thermostat. This allows you to turn the unit on only when someone is in the room.
The mini split ac unit offers more flexibility than other types of air conditioning units. Manufacturers can usually provide different lengths of conduits, allowing you to place the outside unit as far as 50 feet away from the indoor unit. This allows you to place the outdoor unit in an inconspicuous place without detracting from the beauty of your property. When installing the system, the conduit generally only requires a 3-inch hole in the wall in order to connect the outside compressor to the inside air-handling unit. Since the unit is ductless, you can also save the more than 30% of energy consumption that is lost using air conditioning systems that requires ductwork.
Are you considering adding a room onto your home or purchasing a new air-conditioning system? The mini split ac offers you lots of flexibility, both inside and out, and saves both energy and money. These easy-to-install systems are the perfect solution for additional rooms or and add-on shop or garage. Check out our selection today.
